Here few more photos of the fireplace, tomorrow it's going to get a white coat and then it will be ready! We'll have to wait for three weeks for it to dry completely before we can lit the first fire. 

The floorboards are in place upstairs and so are the windows, next job is to build the walls upstairs. The heating/air conditioning  system central unit is arriving this week, it's quite exciting as it's very new techology and no other house in the area has it yet.

Work on the fireplace started Tuesday morning and here some photos from the first two days. Another two days and it should be ready!

This weeks development

 

                                                        

Good week on site again. Mr B has finished his painting marathon and Ukki is almost finished with gyproc boards downstairs. All the walls are done downstairs and windows are in place, time to start working upstairs now: finishing the floorboards, then gyproc on the walls and windows in. Tuesday morning the construction of the fireplace starts and it should be finished by the end of the week! 

Upstairs bathroom layout has also finally been decided: a slipper bath with feet and corner shower. 

Also went to a place that specialises on wood decoration and chose skirting boards for floors, ceilings, windows and door frames. 

The realisation

Mrs B hasn't been on site again for a few days and what a progress! Downstairs is nearly ready for the plasterers and painters! It's really going to be a house, a real house :-) Somehow it's only now really starting to sink in that we are going to be living here in Finland, in a house we have designed for us, that is being built for us, by Ukki the builder and his crew Grandad and Mr B. How exciting!

 Lots of timber already been painted and still loads and loads to go... glad we ordered the outside cladding ready painted with undercoat and 1 coat of paint!
